Willy – Cavalier King Charles
Before
Willy is a 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles who was brought to the Studio Dermatologico Veterinario with widespread pustules and crusts in all skin districts. The disease that affected Willy is pemphigus foliaceus, a condition in which the dog’s immune system produces antibodies that mistakenly recognize certain skin structures as foreign and destroy them.
Willy – Cavalier King Charles
After
Over the next three months of immunomodulatory therapy, Willy’s dermatitis improved and after 6 months was under control. In this picture you can appreciate how the pustules and scabs have disappeared and hair has grown back everywhere.
Miky – Dachshund
Before
Miky is a 3-year-old Dachshund who has had plaques on the back of his nose for the past 10 days. Miky loves to go to the countryside and often sticks his snout into the burrows of moles and wild rabbits. After examining the scales and hairs surrounding the lesions under the microscope we observe the presence of hair fragments covered with fungal spores and hyphae.
Miky – Dachshund
After
Miky is being treated with topical and systemic antifungal therapy, and after 3 weeks the lesions are much improved, the hair has not completely grown back, but in a few weeks the nose will be back as before!
Stellina – Bolognese
Before
Stellina is a 3-year-old female Bolognese breed dog who presents with ulcerated and painful plaques and nodules on her trunk and fever. The problem is caused by granuloma formation, lesions similar to foreign body reactions, which Stellina’s immune system mistakenly produces in the absence of a particular infectious agent.
Stellina – Bolognese
After
Stellina after one month of treatment is much better. The lesions have healed and the fever has disappeared.
